Teignmouth and Dawlish Groups.

November 30, 2011 | General

It’s nearly the end of another year for the Red Rock Runners.

As the darker nights are upon us and most of the groups are busy working mums, we have decided to end the evening group in Teignmouth, for this year.

It’s been another good year for the groups, and as always a privilege to be your coach.

The Saturday morning group continues up until Christmas, then we can all have a well deserved rest.

So for now its  a  MERRY CHRISTMAS, AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR.

It’s great to be able to congratulate members of the group who have completed some events over the past month or so……………

Congratulations went to Monique, Emma and Jenny for completing the Bristol Half Marathon in September…. and to Julia, for completing the Great South Run in Portsmouth at the end of October.

It’s been another fantastic year with the group, and despite the many changes there have been, you have all been so supportive and accepting of them. New members are always welcome, and it’s been lovely to see them enjoying the group sessions.

The groups continue to meet on a Tuesday evening in Teignmouth, 6.40pm at the Cliff Carpark. As well as Saturday mornings in Dawlish 8.30am at Sandy Lane Carpark.

The Saturday morning group have been able to make use of the new cycleway from the Warren to Starcross, a great safe path now for both cyclists and runners!!

Saturday mornings will continue, up to Christmas, and in the New Year we are starting training for the Bath Half Marathon. feel free to join us.

Best Wishes to all our members, whether you run for pleasure, or to complete in events, you are all fantastic.

Sarah

Congratulations to our three ladies who completed the Plymouth Half Marathon last weekend.
Well done to Jenny,Sarah and Emma, for finishing this event , especially to Sarah as this was her first ever half marathon and she ran really well.It was great to see you back running on Tuesday evening and with your medal and t-shirt. So again congratulations to you all.

Its always great to be out running here in sunny Devon, and for me being able to catch up with all of your news, and hear about your plans for which event you are planning on entering.Looks like we shall have members running in Cardiff half and Bristol half later in the year, as well as the great South run.

Other news is that the sister group to Red Rock Runners is starting this Thursday in Burnham-On-Sea, and very exciting it is too!!

More on all the latest news soon , so I hope you are enjoying running, as always any problems etc do give me a shout.
HAPPY RUNNING

Teignmouth and Dawlish Groups.Back on the 26th April

April 25, 2011 | General

Hope the Easter holidays have been fun for you all, the weather has certainly been great. Hopefully there’s still some Easter eggs left from yesterday?!?!.

Looking forward to getting back into the swing of it tomorrow morning, and enjoying a run by the sea.
The evening group won’t be needing their flourescent tops for awhile, and we can now venture further afield.

Many of you will know that Pauline ran her first London Marathon last Sunday, and I’m really pleased to be able to report that she completed the 26.2 miles in such a great time that she is automatically entered into next years race.!!! so huge CONGRATULATIONS to Pauline.

Hope to see you all tomorrow, and enjoy some running.

At last the clocks have changed and it’s so much more lighter when we run in the evening, not much longer and we won’t be needing our flourescent jackets for awhile.

It was a real shame that the Thursday evening run has been dropped, but with so few wanting to do a run that evening, it had to be an economic decision. However, its great to see so many of you turning up on Saturday mornings for that longer run.

As most of you, who are running on Saturday morning are looking at doing an event in the Autumn, we have plenty of time to build up nice and slow.
There is a group run this Saturday morning, 8.30 am in Dawlish.

We shall soon be in the Easter holidays, so from the 12th April there will not be any groups until the 26th April. This allows you all to have a bit of a break and enjoy your time with the children /family.

See you all tomorrow…………..Happy Running.

At last the trainers have been taken out and given some exercise.!!!
It was great to be back running with the groups last week, and I am looking forward to getting back to running on a saturday fairly soon too.

If there are any of you looking for forthcoming events try looking up Western Runner, this website will be up and ready very soon with listings of all the races during the year, together with tips and ideas.

If you are ready for new trainers then don’t forget there are several shops to choose from…. The Runners Guide in Torquay are always really helpful with getting you in the right shoe. In Exeter there are several shops such as Ironbridge Runner, Tony Price to name but a few…….. Don’t forget that just because your trainers feel comfy, if you are starting to feel some niggles then give some thought to how old those comfy trainers are!!!!!

Do get in touch if you haven’t been back, it’s always good to know how you are all doing……….
No change has been made to the cost of sessions or how payment is made. all as normal ladies.

With the start of spring just around the corner, here’s to some great running.

Sarah…………..

It’s great to be back this month, and now that all the festivities are over it’s time to get those trainers back on and make a start.
There was a newsletter sent out to all the members last week, hopefully you have all recieved it and read it!!!!!
Affiliating with the Association of road runners is one of the topics, this is still at the planning stage. Your replies have been coming in, please do get in touch if you haven’t yet.

The Tuesday morning group is meeting at the Sandy Lane car park at 9.15 am and (for this month only) I will be there, sadly without my trainers, but giving encouragement and advice where needed. It was great to see so many of you turn up last week, and for your support . I can’t wait to get running again !!!

The evening group meets at the EastCliff carpark at 6.40 pm. Again there was a really good turnout last Tuesday, and thanks to all of you for getting back into the swing of it.

So here’s to another great year of running.
Best wishes
Sarah

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY RUNNING NEW YEAR.

December 22, 2010 | General

It’s the end of another year for RedRock Runners, and what a year it’s been!!!!!
With marathons and half marathons to the 10kms you have been out there putting in a great effort. We have had new members join in the fun, and we’ve had drama this year too, (thankfully with a happy ending.) Along the way we have raised hundreds of pounds for charity, especially for the Devon Air Ambulance. The support of the groups has been amazing as our run up on Mamhead proved.
As a coach it was lovely to have the enthusiasm of our “new to entering an event” ladies, and a privelege to be there on the day when they all completed the Dartmoor Vale 10km.
On a personal note, its been a year full of ups and downs, but one thing that has been consistent has been the friendship and support you have given me.
As most of you know I am currently laid up, but counting the days until I can put my trainers on!!!!
All being well that should be before the end of January, and I’m looking forward to coming back with renewed enthusiasm and energy. Anyone up for a half marathon sometime in April/May??????
If you are worrying about getting out for a run, just remember there’s always another day.The ice and snow will go eventually, (it seems that some places have had more than others,)just keep warm and safe, spring is on its way!!!!
So, all that’s left for me now is to wish each and everyone of you…………………………………………………
…………………… A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY RUNNING NEW YEAR………………

Love and Best Wishes
Sarah
