Run To The Beat 2009

October 1, 2009 | Running Events

What a great weekend it turned out to be!! There were 12 in the group travelling up to London, 11 runners and Lisa's Mum, who came at the last minute to watch.Getting across London on the underground on Saturday was a trial in it's-self with several of the lines closed, but we had a great guide in Gemma who steered us in the right direction. The Premier Inn was a good hotel as our base with the O2 arena just across the river.Saturday evening we all had a great meal, and a suprise chocolate cake appeared for my birthday, carbo loading at it's best!!! Sunday saw us at the O2 and joining in with 250 other bananas to get into the Guiness Book Of Records, see the photos. After the workout with two of the people from T.Vs Gladiator,(hunky or what?!!!) we all got to the start line ready for the off. Out of the group there, we had 6 girls running a half marathon for the first time Lisa, Gemma, Marcia, Donna, Sophie and Nicky together with Monique, Julia, Annie,Catherine and me.Despite the heat we all crossed the finishing line, some loved the heat, others hated every minute we were out in it and were hugging the shade wherever there was some. That last mile seemed to stretch out forever, but there was Lisas mum cheering us in.So well done all of you I have to say I was proud of you all.it's just a shame we didn't all get together for a finishers photograph. One or two things made us laugh, where the chip really goes- on the shoe (and not in it) how painfull would that be,buddying up on the underground just like school children so that no-one got lost, dressing up as a banana and trying to do a workout.
